(KALIDA) - Bluffton and Fort Jennings kept all their fans breathless for most of their District Final boys soccer game. The Musketeers took advantage of a late foul and buried a penalty kick with just seven minutes remaining to win the match 1-0.
The Pirates controlled the first half passing at will and creating several good scoring opportunities. However, the Musketeer goal keeper kept all shots out of the net for a 0-0 halftime score. FJ definitely held the edge in the second half and Pirate keeper Levi Smith dos a tremendous job keeping the score tied.
The deciding play came on a throw in that got behind the Pirate defense. Fort Jennings midfielder Troy Ricker won the ball and was tripped in the penalty box. Ricker fired a low, hard shot to put FJ up 1-0.
The game was the final one for seniors Tucker Routson, Cole Harlow, Jack Burrell and Austin Maroscher.
