Columbus Grove pressed, pushed and stole the ball all night long and came away with a 70-51 win over Bluffton. Grove used a 20-6 third quarter to open the game up stretching a 30-24 halftime lead to 50-30 heading into the fourth.
Levi Gleason had 17 points for Bluffton and senior Tyler Breidenbach scored 11 including three 3s. Matt Gillett also scored 11 for Bluffton. Luke Kohls scored 18 points to lead the Bulldogs including 12 in the second quarter alone.
Columbus Grove's physical full court, trapping defense forced the Pirates into 24 turnovers for the game and created a helter skelter atmosphere much to the Bulldogs liking.
Bluffton and Grove took part in the annual Coaches vs Cancer theme with halftime contests and both coaching staffs sporting sneakers with their dress pants. The Bluffton coaching staff definitely one upped the Grove staff on style, highlighted by a smooth pair of Chuck Taylors on the feet of Mr. Kyle Gratz.
Bluffton, now 3-12, has a week off before hosting 6-7 Crestview Friday.
