Shawnee brought their up tempo, physical WBL style to the Treasure Chest on Saturday but the Pirates didn’t mind, at least for the first quarter. Bluffton repeatedly broke the Indians full court press for layups in a nip and tuck first eight minutes. Molly Lengyel scored 11 of her game high 15 points in the first quarter as BHS trailed just 17-13 with 1:15 left. Shawnee ended the quarter with a 23-15 lead. The second quarter proved to be much different with Shawnee outscoring the Pirates 32-6, forcing turnovers and turning them into quick buckets. What was a tight contest turned into a 55-21 halftime lead for Shawnee.
The Pirates continued to work hard in the second half, outscoring Shawnee 13-11 in the third and 15-14 in the fourth. Sami Harrod knocked down four 3s on her way to 12 points. Lydia Guagenti gave great effort throughout the game grabbing 8 rebounds and blocking 6 shots to go with her 7 points. Mariah Welch also scored seven. Taylor Wenger had four and Jaime Lugibihl rounded out the scoring with 1 point. Shawnee also took the JV contest 48-27.
